Ronald McDonald House Charities of Texarkana, Inc. Awards Grant to Kids’ College program at Texarkana College

kidscollegeSeptember 27, 2016- Texarkana, Texas- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Texarkana, Inc. will present a check for $9,545 to Texarkana College to help fund the Kid’s College summer program. Charity representatives will present the grant to TC officials at a check presentation ceremony set for Monday, October 10, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. in the Nelson Administration Building on the Texarkana College campus. Grant funds will enable TC to purchase needed equipment and supplies for program expansion.

TC has offered the popular Kids’ College program for 23-years through the Continuing Education Department.  The program is designed to provide summer enrichment programs on the TC campus for students age 7-12 years old.  Last summer, 517 area children participated in the program and TC officials expect the number to increase in 2017 with the addition of new courses including Rocket Science and additional sports programs.

“Ronald McDonald House Charities has invested in the Kids’ College for the last several years and has enabled TC to expand course offerings and ensure students have necessary supplies to receive a valuable leaning experience,” said Kristi Hart, TC Director of Continuing Education. “The grant funds have helped us grow the program to over 30 classes each summer including Acro-Gymnastics, Archery, CSI Science, Wild and Crazy Kids, Flag Football, and Mad Science.”

Texarkana College has been awarded the Ronald McDonald House Charities Grant for four consecutive years.  Along with needed funds to purchase supplies and equipment, grant funds also help keep enrollment costs low and help provide a safe and secure learning environment for students.

“With help from the Ronald McDonald House Charities grant, TC is able to make a difference in the lives of kids throughout the community by providing quality summer courses in a fun, friendly, and safe environment,” Hart said. “TC’s Kids’ College would not be what it is today without their generosity.”

TC’s 2017 Kids’ College is scheduled for June 19-22 and June 26-29, and registration will begin in April 2017.  For more information about courses offered through Continuing Education at Texarkana College, please visit the TC website at www.texarkanacollege.edu or call 903-823-3270.
