Why does Texarkana College need private support?

Private giving allows students the opportunity to complete or continue their education, enhance academic programs, and provide faculty with additional teaching tools.

How can I make a gift?

Individuals, corporations, and foundations may contribute cash through an annual gift or a pledge.  Gifts include cash or appreciated securities.  Planned gifts can include charitable trusts, gift annuities, bequests in will, or paid life insurance policies.

A gift may be made to the Texarkana College Foundation by using the Give Now feature on our website or by mailing a check to the Texarkana College Foundation, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, TX  75501.  To establish a scholarship, please contact the Foundation at 903-823-3125.

How much should I give?

Contributions of all sizes are important and appreciated.  The size of the gift is a personal decision but can be determined by what the donor would like to see accomplished through their gift.

May I designate how my gift will be used?

A donor may support one or more scholarships or programs.  You may also designate your gift as “unrestricted,” which would provide support to the areas with greatest need.

What is an endowed scholarship?

An endowed scholarship provides a permanent source of funding for a specific scholarship program.  Since the endowment’s principal is preserved and only the income is used, these scholarships are perpetual.  Endowment funds are invested by the Investment Committee set forth by guidelines from the Foundation’s Investment Policy Statement.

What naming opportunities are available through the Texarkana College Foundation?

Naming options give the donor the opportunity to recognize an individual, their family or company though a gift to the Foundation.  A named endowed scholarship fund can be established with a minimum gift of $25,000, which can be given over several years.   Memorial gifts are also accepted and have naming opportunities.

What is the difference between restricted and unrestricted gifts?

Unrestricted gifts provide a pool of funds to the Foundation that is not restricted to a specific program or scholarship.  These gifts are then designated by the Foundation’s Board of Directors to provide important resources for specific projects, programs, and scholarships.

Restricted gifts are directed toward a specific college program or scholarship.   This type of gift allows programs to do special projects that go beyond their college budget.

Are all gifts tax deductible?

Gifts to the Texarkana College Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  It is recommended that the donor also consult with a tax attorney.
