The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at Texarkana College is excited to provide important information related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP is a federally funded monthly benefit available to individuals and households meeting specific asset as well as income criteria is NOW expanding their eligibility criteria to provide more opportunities for college students to qualify for SNAP benefits.

According to the new Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021, the previous limitations of getting SNAP will now include the following two criteria:

  • Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 based on their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Students eligible to participate in the federal or state work-study program during the current academic year (this applies even if a work-study assignment has not started or is not available).

The SNAP form may require the student to get signatures from the Office of Enrollment Services to verify enrollment, the Office of Financial Aid to verify work-study status, and the Business Office to verify if any additional outside funds are being paid to the school.
