Faculty – Construction Technology

The Faculty Construction Technology facilitates learning and skill testing for students in accordance with Texarkana College’s teaching philosophy, specifically within Construction Technology Programs.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma and Certificate or Associate’s degree required (Bachelor’s degree preferred) from an accredited college or university.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Qualified to teach instructor preparatory courses.
  • Knowledge of college organization, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel to various campuses as needed.

Experience

  • Five years of direct work experience, with at least three years current.
  • Must maintain all required licenses and certificates during employment.
  • Previous teaching experience strongly preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Teach hands-on and classroom/laboratory courses, including team teaching.
    • Conduct all teaching and personal behaviors safely, recognizing risks associated with technology

instruction.

  • Use a variety of effective, professional teaching techniques to help students achieve course objectives.
  • Prepare and submit course objectives, student performance objectives, and daily lesson plans.
  • Develop appropriate student performance objectives.
  • Submit reports on training hours and skills achieved upon completion or termination of training.
  • Assist with student placement activities.
  • Accurately compile, submit, and archive all required forms, records, and documentation.
  • Observe college and off-campus site policies and procedures.
  • Participate in meetings, training, committees, and public relations functions as assigned.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the College and Workforce program.
  • Manage supplies and inventory of materials.
  • Follow established attendance procedures.
  • Carry out instructor’s lesson plans.
  • Proctor tests, quizzes, and exams.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students.
  • Collect student assignments.
  • Comply with departmental and college policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise 2–5 employees

Salary:

Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for position.
