Faculty – Biology
Instructs students in the biological sciences in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- In accordance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements, Biology or a Master’s degree in related disciplines with 18 graduate hours in Biology appropriately.

- Demonstrates sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Demonstrates ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
Experience:
- Must be knowledgeable, capable of using current technology in the classroom, and able to teach effectively at a community college level.
- Preferred experience in teaching community college level Biology.
- Successful teaching experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instructs students in the biological sciences. Provides learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourages critical thinking.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in the field, and service in the profession and/or the community.
- Plans and organizes lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids.
- Meets deadlines and adheres to policies and procedures for paperwork, records, and documentation.
- Maintains office hours to assist students.
- Participates in graduation, general assembly, and other official College functions.
- Responsible for program development, curriculum development, advising/mentoring students and participating in student retention activities.
- Serves on college-wide and departmental committees and participates in college activities.
- Participates in faculty development opportunities.
- Primarily responsible for teaching a minimum of fifteen (15) credit/contact hours or non-course based-options (NCBO) per semester in the area of Biology.
- Maintains an established schedule, including evening, weekend, and/or summer assignments, including possible multiple campus locations that may vary by semester.
- Recruits advises and evaluates students.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Serves as faculty advisor for students.
Salary Range:
Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for position.
