Dates and Deadlines

The fall semester at Texarkana College runs from August to December. The deadline for registering for the fall term is August 23, 2023, which is the first day of the fall semester. Late registration for class will be available from August 24 to August 30, 2023, but students who register during this period will be subject to a late fee. To avoid the late fee and ensure that you get the classes you need, it is important to register as soon as possible.

New 8-Week Class Format for Academic Courses

Texarkana College is now offering an 8-week class format for most academic courses. We have typically offered traditional Fall and Spring terms that lasted around 4 months, or 16 weeks each.  But now, we’re changing the format of most of our academic classes to last around 2 months, or 8 weeks, in length, and offering more of them throughout the year. This format allows students to take more focused coursework in a shorter amount of time, providing greater flexibility for their schedules. In addition, students can take advantage of this format to complete courses more quickly and graduate sooner. Courses being offered in the new 8-week format are academic courses include core academic courses, pre-requisite courses, academic courses needed to fulfill degree requirements for associate degrees, and courses that will transfer to universities for completion of a bachelor’s degree. These courses fulfill degree requirements for associate degrees and also transfer to universities for credit towards bachelor degrees.

Nursing School and Health Science Courses: 

Texarkana College also has an acclaimed nursing school that prepares students to become RNs and LVNs. The nursing programs are housed in the state-of-the-art Dr. William R. Patterson Health Sciences Center with instructors dedicated to student success and quality health sciences training, Texarkana College’s Health Sciences programs are equipped with the latest technology for our future community caregivers. The Texarkana region is a healthcare hub, supplying two hospitals, numerous medical offices, private emergency rooms, and long-term care facilities. Other Health Sciences programs offered at Texarkana College include Emergency Medical Technology/Paramedics and Pharmacy Technology.
