Orientation Overview

Welcome to College 101: Student Orientation.  Meet Lee Williams as he kicks off the start of Orientation.

Hello, my name is Lee Williams, III. I’m the executive director for student success retention and Trio EOC here at Texarkana College and I’m excited to welcome you to Texarkana College and our online student orientation platform. Our orientation theme this academic year is operation complete. The collegiate journey is a mission, but we believe at Texarkana College with our small class sizes, dedicated faculty and staff and student success resources that you can complete the mission. Thus, we’re calling the mission operation complete this online student.

Orientation platform is your 24/7 guide to help you complete your mission at Texarkana College. I strongly encourage you to bookmark the orientation page and use the online resources as you seek to complete your mission.

Orientation is designed with the end in mind and we believe students who complete each orientation module will have a head start on their collegiate journey. Our orientation is divided into 8 modules. Each module is critical to your success of Texarkana College and again, I strongly encourage you to take notes. And jot down questions. Find a quiet place with limited distractions to complete each module. Please send your questions to orientation@texarkanacollege.edu and we’ll return your e-mail within 24 hours. Please understand that you must complete each of the 8 modules and complete the assessment at the end. To earn credit for orientation, the orientation assessment must be completed by Friday, February 3rd, 2023, Friday February 3rd, 2023. At 11:59 with a score of 80% or higher to get credit, do not wait until the last minute.

Documents and resources discussed throughout orientation can be found at www.texarkanacollege.edu/orientation.

So go ahead and take a breath and remember, you must give yourself grace and don’t be afraid to reach out with questions. In January 2020, just before the global pandemic, I started working on my Masters degree for the second time and let me tell you, I was nervous. I was nervous about failure, but more importantly nervous about what others would think. And let me stop right here and remind you that this is your journey and the faculty and staff at Texarkana College are here to support you. Please use us as a resource. Sometimes a journey can start rocking, and that’s OK, because the celebration comes in the end.

Enjoy orientation and make sure to listen to my final thoughts in module 8 to get information about your next steps in your journey.
