Student Support Services is a federally funded program designed to provide academic support to Texarkana College students who show potential for success in college, but who need assistance in their efforts. Students entering the program have a variety of needs encompassing economic, academic, and cultural challenges including students with disabilities. Student Support Services can help you by offering career information, tutoring, study skills, and college transfer information.
Do I Qualify?
If you meet any of the criteria below, you qualify for Student Support Services. All services are at no charge to qualifying students.
- If you represent the first generation in your family to pursue and receive a four-year degree.
- If you have economic need.
- If you have a physical disability
Tutoring Services
Need help in your classes? Student Support Services provides tutoring in most college courses. Tutor schedules are available and may be picked up Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the 2nd floor of the Palmer Memorial Library.
Workshops
Student Support Services staff provides additional assistance to help students succeed in their classes. We offer workshops throughout the year, either in groups or individually, to help students meet their educational/career goals.

Additional Services
Financial Assistance
Student Support Services aids students applying for and receiving the aid for which they are eligible. Students are kept informed of application deadlines and are encouraged to ask questions they may have about financial aid. Also, information about financial assistance from outside resources is available.

Transferring to a Four-Year School
Participants transferring to area four-year institutions are provided transportation for campus visits. Student Support Services will schedule appointments with instructors in the field of study, the financial aid office, housing office, and admissions.
Social and Cultural Programs
Student Support Services provides access to social and cultural events in an effort to help students achieve a well-rounded education. We realize that part of a successful college career involves quality experiences outside of the classroom as well as inside the classroom.

We have a collection of websites where you can download scholarship applications. You can use our computers to access websites and complete applications.
