It’s time to start planning Kids’ College for June 2019! Kids’ College has been a fixture in Texarkana for 25+ years, and we’re proud of our long history of providing summer learning for area children. In recent years, several programs similar to Kids’ College have popped up in our area, and we are making some exciting changes to set ourselves apart from the competition.
This year, we want to focus on the “college” portion of Kids’ College. At its core, Kids’ College has always been designed to deliver fun learning experiences in a collegiate environment, and this summer, we’re taking that one step further. This year, students will choose “majors” instead of signing up for individual classes. Each major will be a 3-hour course where the student can get an in-depth experience in a particular subject with a single instructor—for example, an art major may learn sketching and watercolor, and a science major may learn about space and astronomy.
Some suggested major areas include: art, science, computer technology/coding, mass communication, music, culinary arts, and athletics—plus whatever fun majors you can help us create! As a talented Kids’ College instructor, we hope you will help us design majors that will educate, entertain and delight our 7 to 12-year-old students.
This year’s Kids’ College will be held June 24-27 (one week), with a morning session and afternoon session that will be approximately 3 hours each. Instructors will earn $450 per class, or up to $900 if you teach both a morning and afternoon class.
Please complete the form by Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, to let me know what you would like to offer. We are excited to see what courses you can dream up!
Amanda Davis is the new Administrative Assistant in our department, you can also reach out to Amanda at 903-823-3015 with your questions.
Thank you for your continued support of Kids’ College.
