Because of an anonymous donor’s $1 million gift to the Texarkana College Foundation, the Texarkana College Board of Trustees will now consider a recommendation to accept the gift in lieu of approving the proposed tax rate increase for 2015-2016 at their Monday, Sept. 21 meeting.
At a check presentation on Friday, August 14, New Boston residents Vicky and Mike Sandefur made a commitment of $60,000 to the Texarkana College Foundation to support the College’s Presidential Scholarship opportunities for students from Bowie County’s West End.
Grant funds will be used to provide first-generation, low-income or disabled college students with academic and support services needed to succeed in college and persist to graduation.
Northeast Texas Community College will soon team up with Texarkana College to expand the TC Professional Driving Academy’s training to NTCC students.
“It is an honor and privilege to serve Texarkana College, our students, and the community as Dean of the Health Sciences division,” Shoalmire said.
