ARKANSAS  FFA DAIRY FOODS PRACTICE CONTEST

 

Date:  March 7, 2008,  1 p. m.

 

Location:   College Drive Center on the T. C. campus.  From N. Robison Road, turn east onto College

Drive and travel east.  Upon arrival at the sharp curve at the College Bowl,  proceed straight onto Moser Avenue to the parking lots adjacent to the College Drive Center.    

                                       

Registration:  Please register you teams online by March 6 by emailing sfrancis@texarkanacollege.edu. 

Include the names of team members as well as alternate contestants.  A legal size team consists of 3 or 4 members.  Upon arrival for the contest on March 7, contestant  badges will be issued prior to the beginning of the contest.  If a school wishes to enter more than one team (junior & senior), you must designate which is the official competing team for awards. 

 

Contest Format:    The contest will consist of the following:
 

·        Milk Flavor and Identification – Ten milk samples will be scored

     on flavor (taste and odor).  (36 minutes)

 

·        Milker Units  -- Five sets of milker unit parts will be scored on defects of the rubber and metal parts. 
(18 minutes)

 

·        Cheese Identification – Ten cheese samples will be identified (18 minutes)

 

·        Dairy and Non-dairy Products – Contestants will evaluate five samples of natural and/or non-dairy products and identify them as either “natural” or artificial. (18 minutes)

 

·        Score cards will be issued at the contest site.


    

Tabulation and Results : 

Scorecards will be tabulated after the close of the contest and team and individual scores will be posted on the college website Friday afternoon  March 7.


Awards:  Plaques will awarded to the top three teams and to the high scoring individual in the contest.
