Science
and Religion ?
Q. How can a Christian accept and
in fact
agree with evolutionary theory?!
A. Because the theory of
biological evolution
is the best natural (scientific) explanation of the unity &
diversity
of life.
Q. Doesn't evolution prove there
is no
God?
A. Science does not prove or
disprove
God, and in fact true science is silent on such topics because these
very
important questions are not subject to experimentation and
therefore
are outside the realm of science. Anyone that states anything to
the contrary is merely relating their personal opinion or
worldview
and not speaking on behalf of the scientific community.
"Science as Compassion" -
Wendee Holtcamp explores
science related career choices and how it is compatible with
Christianity.

The American
Scientific Affiliation is a fellowship of men and
women in science and disciplines that relate to science who share a
common fidelity to the Word of God and a commitment to integrity in the
practice of science.

excellent
paper "Fish Wars" by Windee Holtcamp a wildlife biologist and science
writer that explores the contoversy
between science and religion and explains this particular worldview
that
allows practicing scientists to embrace both the tennets of scientific
theory and be persons of deep religious faith.

Quotes to Ponder...
"Science without religion is lame. Religion without
science is blind." Albert
Einstein
"Science can purify religion from error and
superstition; religion
can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. Each can draw the
other
into a wider world, a world in which both can flourish." Pope John Paul II
"There is
widespread
suspicion of science, fostered by the feeling that
science goes against the Bible," Houghton has said. "This is very
unfortunate; it takes a very small view of God, and a very inadequate
view of science." Sir
John Houghton
“[
I have] gradually learnt
to see that it is just as noble a conception of the Deity to believe
that He
created a few original forms capable of self-development into other and
needful
forms, as to believe that He required a fresh act of creation to supply
the
voids caused by the action of His laws.” Charles
Darwin - On the Origin of Species 2nd
ed. Speaking of correspondence
from Rev. Charles Kingsley - Vicar
Eversley Hampshire – Chaplin in Ordinary to Queen Victoria 1859.
