| The objective of this course is for students to become proficient in the use of electronic spreadsheets. Emphasis is placed on creating basic to advanced spreadsheets having a professional appearance. At the completion of the class students will be knowledgeable of spreadsheet layout, cell formatting, relative, mixed, & absolute cell references, named cells, formula composition, graphing, goal seeking, spreadsheet databases, and commonly used spreadsheet functions such as Sum, Round, If, Pmt, Lookup, and various other financial and statistical functions. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| The class will consist of lectures and hands-on lab time using Excel 2007. Worksheet assignments and projects will be assigned that will utilize the information and concepts covered in class. Tests will be given at the completion of each major topic. These tests will consist of both a written section and a hands on section. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Time will occasionally be given in class to work on assignments. Unless you have completed all assigned work and have approval of the instructor, you are expected to attend in-class Lab sessions. An additional 3 hours per week outside class time may be needed to complete the assignments. Excel 2007 is used in class. No spreadsheet software other than Excel may be used for class work. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Assigned homework must be turned in by the due date
for full credit. This is to ensure you do not get behind. Assignments
must be in order with your name placed in a footer on each page.
Each worksheet must be printed twice: once in normal view and once in formula
view. Instructions will be given in class on how to produce both print jobs.
Each assignment must also be turned in as a complete unit. Partial
assignments will not be accepted. |

| FROM THE TC CATALOG: Any student who
officially withdraws from a course two weeks before the
start of final examinations and before the student has
been dropped from the course by the instructor will
receive a "W". Students are expected to attend,
regularly, all classes in the course for which they are
registered. Responsibility for work missed because of
illness, school business, or other circumstances is
placed on the student. Using college resources to view or transport pornography and any form of harassment is prohibited and will result in the student being dropped from class with a grade of "F" and disciplinary action taken by the Dean of Students. |

CHEATING: Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will be dropped from the class with a grade of "F" by the instructor and disciplinary action may be taken by the Dean of Students. |
