MOC 2274CCPN - Managing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

       

Course Objective:  
 This course provides hands on training for managing a local area network. Students will learn to:
  • Create and populate OUs with user and computer accounts
  • Manage user and computer accounts
  • Create and manage groups
  • Manage access to resources
  • Implement and manage printing
  • Use OUs to manage objects
  • Implement Group Policy
  • Use Group Policy to manage the user and computer environment
  • Implement administrative templates and audit policy in Windows Server 2003
  • Prerequisite: Windows XP Operating Systems or equivalent knowledge.

    Course Operation:
         The class will consist of lectures and hands-on lab time using the Windows server network operating systems. Major emphasis will be placed on topics related to daily LAN operations of a working LAN. Examples include managing users, setting directory permissions, creating OUs, using group policy, and setting up network printers. Tests will be given to measure student progress. These tests will consist of both a written section and a hands on section.

    Grading:
    Your grade will be based on the following scores: Grading Scale:
    1. Test average
    2. Quiz grades
    3. Homework grade
    4. Instructor evaluation
       A = 90 to 100
       B = 80 to 89.99
       C = 70 to 79.99
       D = 60 to 69.99
       F = Below 60

    Lab:
         Time will occasionally be given in class to work on assignments. Unless you have completed all assigned work and have approval of the instructor, you are expected to attend in-class Lab sessions. An additional 3 hours per week outside class time may be needed to complete the assignments.
       

    FROM THE TC CATALOG: Any student who officially withdraws from a course two weeks before the start of final examinations and before the student has been dropped from the course by the instructor will receive a "W". Students are expected to attend, regularly, all classes in the course for which they are registered. Responsibility for work missed because of illness, school business, or other circumstances is placed on the student.
    Using college resources to view or transport pornography and any form of harassment is prohibited and will result in the student being dropped from class with a grade of "F" and disciplinary action taken by the Dean of Students.

    MAXIMUM ALLOWED ABSENCES BEFORE INSTRUCTOR DROP:
    (3 times tardy counts as one absence)
    • NIGHT CLASSES : 2
    • TUES/THUR CLASSES : 4
    • MON/FRI CLASSES : 4
    • MON WED FRI CLASSES : 6
    • SUMMER DAY CLASSES : 2

    CHEATING: Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will be dropped from the class with a grade of "F" by the instructor and disciplinary action may be taken by the Dean of Students.
