What does it mean to
be a member of the TC News staff?

Commitment

On the TC News, reporters are committed to producing the highest quality publication possible. Occasionally we put in long hours, but that's okay, because when it looks great, we know who made it great. Maybe it was our commitment to quality that has captured for us the "Best All-Around Newspaper" title in the state from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and Sweepstakes Winner in Division III, 1996 and 1998.

Confidence Builder

You may have never known that a reporter or photographer lived inside of you. But after a few interviews or a few photo assignments, you start to feel like a pro. And after one or two semesters, you earn an editorship. Suddenly, you know where your future lies--in the ever broadening field of communications. Think of the feeling you will have when you see your name in print over a fabulous feature, or an eye-opening news story, or under a fantastic photo.

Competition

You want to do your best to find that unusual angle that will make your article shine or your photo stand out. And that article or photo might be among those chosen to be entered in two major statewide journalism competitions. Imagine knowing that you've written the best article or taken the best picture in the whole state!

Fellowship

Finally, it is a feeling of belonging. You are one of a select group working on the paper that more than 4,000 students wait anxiously to receive. There is an unmistakable fellowship among those on the TC News staff as they work on the paper. Experience this fellowship.

Don't just be another TC student walking the campus for two years. Be a part of something important-- the TC News.
