Federal Depository Collection

(Government Documents)

Mission:

The Palmer Memorial Library of Texarkana College was designated a Federal Depository Library (FDL) in 1963. Its mission is serving the information needs of the citizens of the 4th U.S. Congressional District of Texas and the local academic community by providing access to federal government publications.  The Palmer Memorial Library Government Documents Department maintains a close working relationship with the regional depository library at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, and the FDL at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Subject Emphasis:

The collection consists of selected documents in various formats (paper, CD, and DVD) issued by agencies of the federal government.

Documents are selected depending on their capacity to:

    1.        Support academic and vocational programs of study at Texarkana College and Texas A&M University – Texarkana, and

    2.        Be considered of interest to the general public. All documents are listed in the Library’s online catalog.

Most items circulate for two weeks with recheck privileges.  Non-circulating items are law books, documents cataloged as Reference, and selected tax and U.S. Census information.  Inter-Library Loan service is used to borrow and/or loan requested documents to other universities and institutions.
