Scholarships
are processed by the Dean of Student's Office (Students Services),
which is located in the Carl M. Nelson Administration Building.
Rising
Star Scholarship
The Rising Star Scholarship is a full tuition and fee scholarship for academic or vocational classes for the freshman and sophomore years. Applicants must be current high school graduates and have a family taxable income of $75,000 or less. Application deadline is August 1st following high school graduation. First year recipients must maintain full-time status and a minimum GPA of 2.0. Rising Star students who complete their freshman year with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and full-time status are eligible for second year funding.
General Scholarships
For those that are not eligible for the
Rising Star Scholarship, Texarkana College offers a wide variety of
general scholarships that are based on class ranking and ACT or SAT
scores. These scholarships are for current graduates and award amounts
vary from $300 - $1,400 for the Endowment and Dean's scholarships,
and up to $7,000 for the President's Scholarship. Scholarships can
be used for academic or vocational classes. Application deadline is
the last workday in March. All recipients must enroll in and maintain
full-time status. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the Endowment
and Dean's scholarships and a 3.0 GPA is required of the President
scholarship recipients.
Vocational Scholarship
A separate application is available for the quarter
length vocational programs. The only requirement is that applicants
apply within 12 months of high school graduation. This is a one-time
award for new student's first quarter enrollment of
$300 for day classes or $200 for night classes.
GED Scholarship
GED Scholarships are awarded based on a GED score of
550 or higher with awards amounts varying from $300 to $900. Applicants
must apply within 12 months of receiving their GED score. Applicants
must enroll and maintain full-time status and also maintain a minimum
GPA of 2.0.
Jake & Bessie Eldridge Scholarship
The Eldridge Scholarship is a transfer scholarship
for those students who plan to complete their education at a public
four-year college or university in Texas. Applicants must be full-time
TC students and have 60 hours of college level courses completed by
the end of the spring semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The application
deadline is the last workday in March. Award amounts vary from $1,300
to $1,800 per semester.
