BASIC BRIDGE FOR BEGINNERS

Come join us and learn to play Basic Bridge. No formal instruction! No pre-arranged hands! Learn bridge by playing several hands each class beginning with the fundamental mechanics of the game. BASIC CAMERA TECHNIQUES FOR DIGITAL AND FILM

Thursday, May 1-May 22 | 6:30-8:30 p.m. | $80 | 4 wks

A “basic camera” course that teaches new photographers techniques for both 35-mm and digital adjustable cameras and accessories. Work outside of the automatic features on your camera. Covers f-stops, shutter speed, focusing, depth of field, composition, and when and how to use different film types and digital settings. Bring to class your own adjustable 35-mm film camera or a digital camera that allows you to switch out of automatic mode.

CDL PERMIT PREPARATORY COURSE ONLINE

$125 | Start Dates: Feb. 1, March 1, April 1, May 1

This 32 hour CDL Permit preparatory course will allow you to prepare for the written CDL permit examination. Each online course participant will be given access to the online videos, tutorials, and practice exams for a thirty (30) day period. Once enrollment and payment have been completed through the Continuing Education Office, a confirmation email of enrollment, initial account setup, password creation, and the location of the web portal for access to the online portion of the CCL Exam Review Course will be sent to each student. All students must have access to the internet and a computer or a personal digital device capable of using Flash Player, Real Player, and/or QuickTime for viewing of the online video lessons.

THE CRACKED PEARL: STYLE & FASHION

Do you ever have trouble accessorizing your outfit or deciding what style is right for you? Come join us and learn the art of accessorizing. Brandi Vickers, Owner of Cracked Pearl, will share with us simple tips on tying scarves, accessorizing your outfits with jewelry, and mixing and matching of patterns.

INTRODUCTION TO SIGN LANGUAGE

If you want to communicate with children or adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, and use sign language, this course is for you.  You will learn basic vocabulary and sentences.  Different vocabulary will be presented in the two sections. ROAD SCHOLARS PROGRAM: SCOTLAND/IRELAND

TENTATIVE DATE: Jul. 25-Aug. 8 | 2 wks | $3,350

Come travel with us to Scotland and Ireland! Spend 4-6 days in Scotland, and 4-6 days in Ireland. This travel experience is open to students, faculty, staff, and anyone else who would like to go. Preparation for the trip will begin the first week in July. Students will be required to attend a mini session that will include learning about the history, geography, government, and culture of these two countries. The total cost of this trip will be $3,350.00, including airfare. Faculties conducting this travel experience are Dr. Beverly Rowe, Dr. Phyllis Gardner, and Professor Dawna Rogers. SPANISH AT THE WORKPLACE

This course provides a study of workplace Spanish for non-Spanish speaking employers and employees who need to enhance communication in the workplace, with both colleagues and customers. Emphasis is on oral communication and career-specific vocabulary that targets health, business, and/or public service professions. Instructor: Maritza Gonzalez

TAKING BETTER PICTURES

Ever wanted to know how to turn your picture into something captivating? Come learn how to compose a great picture! This is an ideal course for point-and-shoot or SLR camera owners who want to learn the basics of photo composition. First class will be spent on learning tips, tricks and techniques. Then practice over the next week so at the second class we can discuss our challenges and critique our work.
