New For 2008

  1. Format Change - You Asked For Them Back And They’re Back! This year, we return to the Heat Race format of qualifying for Saturday’s Feature Races. Teams will be divided up into 3 divisions. Each division will run in three Heat Races of 15 laps each, with the slowest heat’s time thrown out and the remaining two heat times will be averaged to determine in which of Saturday’s Feature Races your team will compete.
  2. The slowest 10 cars will participate in a Consolation Race. The top five cars in each of Saturday’s Feature Races (Stilwell, Pinkerton & Rising Star) will automatically advance to the Champion’s Shoot Out. The remaining cars will then be divided into two groups, each competing in a 2nd Chance Qualifier (10 laps/2 pit stops), from which the top five in each race would advance to the Champion’s Shoot Out. Saturday’s Feature Races (Stilwell, Pinkerton, & Rising Star) and the Consolation Race will all be 20 lap races, with 2 pit stops. The Champion’s Shoot Out will be a 30 lap race, with 3 pit stops.

  3. New Point System - In order to make the point system easier to understand, the old points system has been done away with, and the cup awards will be decided upon by your team’s qualifying time (e.g., the school district with the fastest qualifying time will win the Superintendent’s Cup, etc).
  4. New Location For Vendors! - To answer the call for improved team access to the Vendor Area, the vendors will be relocated to the big parking lot between the TC Administration Bldg and TAMU-T.
  5. 5K Run/Walk returns!! - After a BIG success last year, the 5K Run/Walk, Sponsored by Christus St. Michael Health Center, returns! For more information, or to enter, contact Sabrina McCormick at: smccormick@texarkanacollege.edu OR call 903.832.5565, ext. 3269.
