Basic Camera Techniques for Digital and Film
A “basic camera” course that teaches new photographers techniques for both 35mm and digital adjustable cameras and accessories. Work outside of the automatic features on your camera. Covers f-stops, shutter speed, focusing, depth of field, composition, and when and how to use different film types and digital settings. Bring to class your own adjustable 35-mm film camera or digital camera that allows you to switch out of automatic mode.
Fun With Pastels
Enjoy the fun of pastels on sanded surface. You will create your own unique painting surface with mat board and dental pumice. You will learn techniques particular to pastels, how to create texture, how to show value, and how to manage color choices. Bonus tips on drawing included. Introduction to Sign Language
If you want to communicate with children or adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, and use sign language, this course is for you. You will learn basic vocabulary and sentences. Different vocabulary will be presented in the two sections. You can take one section or both. Instructor: Britni Higgins
Taking Better Pictures
Ever wanted to know how to turn your picture into something captivating? Come learn how to compose a great picture! This is an ideal course for point-and-shoot or SLR camera owners who want to learn the basics of photo composition. First class will be spent on learning tips, tricks and techniques. Then practice over the next week so at the second class we can discuss our challenges and critique our work.
The Magic of Acryla Gouache
Using the skills and equipment of transparent water, explore the wonder if acryla gouache, an opaque, matte finish water-based paint. Learn to run washes and create texture as though painting with watercolor. We will work with watercolor brushes on watercolor paper. You will learn proper composition, how to show value and how to mix color, from May ‘Beth Propsma, a retired public school and private art instructor. Bonus tips on drawing skills also included.
Watercolor Basics (Level I)
This is a course for the first-time Watercolorist: basic information on watercolor papers, brushes, forms of watercolor pigments, using watercolor techniques; students will complete three watercolor paintings. Supplies furnished. Instructor: Betty Miller

We’ll use basic knowledge and experience to create textured effects with supplies such as Saran Wrap, salt, palette knives and soap. Instructor will furnish supplies including paint, paper and loaner brushes. Students will complete 2 or 3 paintings. Instructor: Betty Miller
