Two Texarkana College Bulldogs Softball players signed Thursday with NCAA Division I schools.
Haley Nix signed with the University of Oklahoma, and Misti Cosby signed with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
In a special ceremony in the VIP room of the Truman Arnold Student Center at TC, softball head coach Leslie Messina lauded the girls’ achievements on the field.

“Haley broke two school records last year and five this year and was TC’s first NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) All American as a freshman, and Misti Cosby is the second freshman at TC to claim All American status. These were two athletes who left their mark on our program, and they will be greatly missed,” Messina said.
Cosby, a designated player for TC, will play first base for the Lady Lions. She has been playing softball since she 6 years old.
“It’s a Division I school and that’s what every softball player hopes to get to. That’s the best you can do,” Cosby said.
Nix, a first baseman, is slated to play first base for the Lady Sooners. She said she has been playing softball since she was 4 years old and is excited at the possibility of playing in the College World Series this year.
Nix said though she is excited about playing for the University of Oklahoma, she will miss her teammates.
Messina said the contracts are a reflection of skilled athletes at TC and that big schools do recruit at junior colleges.
“We have just had a lot of success during the last several years with quality student athletes,” she said.
