Former Bulldog Pitcher Featured in Baseball America

David Welch profiled as one of the “Best Late Round Selections”

David Welch, a member of the 2004 Lehigh Valley Catz, is profiled as one of the “Best Late Round Selections” in the 2005 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers in a recently released report by Baseball America. David, drafted in the 20th round by the Brewers after his sophomore season at Texarkana College, originally hails from Australia. “Welchy” was assigned to the Helena Brewers (“A” level affiliate of the Brewers) this summer where he went 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA in 12 games.
David, a 6’ 4” left-handed pitcher, was also part of the historic “first no-hitter” in Helena Brewers history by pitching 2 innings of perfect relief as the Brewers no-hit the Billings Mustangs on August 5th. Congrats and continued success to David and the other 17 former Catz in pro ball this past season.
