How to Register
|
| |
| 1. Trial Schedule Approval |
 |
| If you’re a new student, transferring from another college or haven’t
passed all three parts of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), your trial
schedule must be approved by a counselor or a division chair before you
can register.
Where can these people be found? In the Counseling Center downstairs
in the Administration Building. (That’s the big glass building.) It’s
best to get this done before regular registration begins, but if you miss
the beginning of regular registration and you still haven’t completed
your trial schedule, the counselors and division chairs will be on hand
in the Counseling Center during registration.
If you are TSI exempt or have passed all three parts, you may complete
your own schedule without the counselors’ help; however, if you decide
to prepare your own schedule, you are also taking on the full responsibility
for the course prerequisites and transferability to other colleges or
universities.

| 2. Register in the Admissions Office |
 |
| After you get your trial schedule approved, take it to the Admissions
Office (also downstairs in the Administration Building), and they’ll register
you.
If you are a new TC student, you must turn in a completed admissions
application at or before the time of registration. If you are a returning
TC student, you must fill out an update sheet in the Admissions Office
when you register. Also, if you’re new at Texarkana College, you have
to turn in an official transcript from the last school you attended (whether
it is another college or a high school) or your GED certificate if that
applies.
If you’ve been a Texarkana College student before and owe library or
parking fines or have any other type "hold" on your record,
you won’t be allowed to register until you clear up the matter.
|
| |
| 3. Pay your tuition in the Business Office |
 |
The last part of registering is paying your tuition in the Business Office.
(That’s also in the Administration Building, but it’s upstairs.)
You aren’t considered officially registered until you’ve paid and received
a processed schedule from the Business Office. During regular registration,
tuition must be paid on the same day or your registration will be cancelled
at closing time.
Also, if you’re receiving scholarships or financial aid, go by and check
with the Financial Aid Office before you pay your tuition. (This is in
the Administration Building, too. It’s part of the Dean of Student’s Office
on the first floor.) Then, after your schedule is processed, check to
make sure the course numbers and sections are correct.
