Early Admissions Program

T.S.I. STATUS

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) has explicit placement testing guidelines for students enrolling in college-level classes. Early admission students must meet, or be exempt from, testing requirements in the following areas: Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Juniors may receive a one-year waiver to take classes on their high school campus based upon their 10th grade TAKS scores. All scores listed below are minimum requirements.

Enrollment in restricted classes requires students to meet, to be exempt or be waived from a specific section of testing. These subjects are:
  Reading: Biology, Government, History, Psychology
Mathematics: Any college-level Mathematics course
Writing: Freshman English I & II

Complete TSI Exemption:
ACT 23 composite + 19 English and 19 Math
SAT 1070 combined + 500 Critical Reading and 500 Math
TAKS (11th) 2200 Math + 2200 ELA and 3 Writing Sample

TSI Exempt in Math Only:
ACT 23 composite + 19 Math
SAT 1070 combined + 500 Math
TAKS (11th) 2200 Math    

TSI Exempt in Reading and Writing Only:
ACT 23 composite + 19 English
SAT 1070 combined + 500 Critical Reading
TAKS (11th) 2200 ELA + 3 Writing Sample
 

Waiver (Juniors only) in Math:
TAKS (10th) 2200 Math    

Waiver (Juniors only) in Reading and Writing:
TAKS (10th) 2200 ELA + 3 Writing Sample
