Standard student (COA) budgets are prepared each year and reported to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). (COA) budgets are used in determining a student’s financial need. Budgets are constructed for students living on-campus and living off-campus. Each standard expense budget includes cost components defined by law.

  • ·         Tuition and fees — The average cost of tuition and fees for a typical student based on enrolling for a   minimum of 12 hours per semester, 24 hours per year.  The actual costs that a student incurs will vary depending on the student’s enrollment level, program of study, and course fees.
  • ·         Books and Supplies — The average cost of books and supplies for a typical student for an entire academic year.
  • ·         Room and Board — A reasonable estimate of what it would cost to live in Texarkana while attending school for two semesters.  Actual costs may vary by individual choices related to location and circumstances.
  • ·         Transportation — The average costs associated with traveling distance to school and home.
  • ·         Miscellaneous — The average costs associated with personal costs during the academic year such as clothing, personal items, and etc.

 

*The actual costs a student incurs for both tuition, and fees and books and supplies will vary depending on the student’s degree or certificate program.  All components for the COA are computed using an average computation with previous year enrollment reports and current costs.  The above cost of attendance may be altered in the case that there are expenses related to:  Disability, Study abroad, or Cooperative education program employment, Loan fees; origination fees; or insurance premiums, Incarcerated students; and Instruction by telecommunications.  This would be done on an individual bases per student.
