Assessment and Testing Center

TSI General Information

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) was mandated through action of the 78th Texas Legislature to replace the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP). TSI requires students to be assessed in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics prior to enrolling at a Texas public college or university. Institutions have the flexibility to determine the appropriate path for individual students to take so as to be considered college ready and thus ready for college-level courses.

Beginning August 26, 2013, The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is requiring all Texas public colleges and universities to begin administering the new Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment. Any new student that has not completed college course work prior to 8/26/13 or met a state approved exemption will be subject to the new TSI Assessment requirements.

Before a student can take the new TSI Assessment, he/she must complete a Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA). Please click HERE to find out more about the new TSI Assessment and how to complete the required Pre-Assessment Activity.
