The Computer Technology and Information Systems Department at Texarkana College is dedicated to the offering of programs designed to provide academic and hands-on training for current and future career opportunities in the field of computer technology. Our programs are designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge of concepts necessary for employment into computer support, information technology, clerical support, or computer/network maintenance.

The need for employees in the information workplace is in a continuous state of growth and change. Our purpose is to train or retrain individuals in this constantly evolving environment.

Our programs are specifically designed to prepare students for positions in:

  • Applications programming
  • Computer hardware support
  • Web application development
  • Networking and network administration
  • Office management and support

Texarkana College is an official Microsoft IT Academy and also a Cisco Academy. Our academy designations allow us to offer the official Microsoft and Cisco curricula and are taught by vendor-certified instructors. The objective of these courses is to enable students to obtain industry standard certifications and provide hands-on experience using actual hardware and software. Specific certifications currently targeted are:

  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) in:
    • Windows 7
    • Windows Server 2008 Active Directory
    • Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure
    • Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure
    • Windows Server 2008 Administrator
  • Microsoft IT Professional (MCITP) in:
    • Windows Server 2008 Administrator
    • Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • CompTIA A+
