Texarkana College desires to resolve student grievances, complaints, and concerns in an expeditious, fair and amicable manner.
Students enrolled in online courses who desire to file a non-academic complaint should follow the Non-Academic Discrimination Grievance Resolve Procedure found on page 22 of the Texarkana College Catalog and Student Handbook. For appeals related to the final course grade, follow the TC Academic Grievance Resolve Procedure found on page 21 of the Texarkana College Catalog and Student Handbook.
In all instances, the student should first contact the professor and discuss the problem. If the problem is not resolved at that level, or you do not feel comfortable discussing the issue with the professor, then take the steps outlined in the Texarkana College Catalog and Student Handbook.
If you wish to file a formal complaint as mentioned in the Student Handbook, please fill out a Texarkana College Student Complaint Form. You may print a copy of the form by clicking student_complaint_form.pdf, or you may pick up a copy in any division office or from the Dean of Students.
After exhausting all institutional complaint processes, Texas residents may file a complaint with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and/or with Texarkana College’s regional accrediting agency, The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Students residing in states other than Texas may file a complaint with the regulatory agency in the state where they are receiving the online instruction, and/or the Commission on Colleges.
Most complaint processes external to Texarkana College require that the student:
