Completion Advisor/Retention Specialist (Success Coach)

Description: The Completion Advisor/Retention Specialist will advise students and assist them in making informed decisions regarding their education and career choices.  Major responsibilities include working with other admissions and advising staff and faculty to assist students, develop and implement retention plans, and perform other duties to ensure student success. This is a Part-Time Position.
Qualifications:
  1. Associates degree required. Bachelors degree preferred.
  2. Experience in education is preferred.
  3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  4. Strong organizational skills and problem solving skills are required.
  5. The ability to maintain and foster strong relationships with state and local agencies and local employers is required.
  6. Must be available for occasional evening and weekend assignments.
Responsibilities:
  1. Provide students with degree plans that meet their short-term and long-term educational and career objectives.
  2. Provide academic and personal guidance/advising and referral services to students.
  3. Develop and implement and early alert system by working with the faculty to provide timely feedback to students about their academic progress, to identify students whose behaviors indicate a lack of academic success strategies, and refer students for academic skills assistance, including tutoring, counseling, and/or further career guidance.
  4. Stay current with trends and best practices regarding student retention, develop retention strategies for the college, and work closely with faculty, student outreach services staff, and other Texarkana College staff in implementing, evaluating, and improving retention strategies.
  5. Perform intrusive advising through the use of technology.
  6. Assist students in employment readiness, resume building, interviewing, and job opening identification.
Salary: Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for this position.
