Music/Voice Adjunct

Description: The ideal candidate would have a solid foundation in teaching voice, would build the college choir through good vocal technique and appropriate repertoire and concerts, and would participate in campus performances as a soloist.
Qualifications:  Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Music with Vocal/Choral Emphasis. Experience as a performer (singer and director) in a variety of situations preferred.  Experience in directing youth and/or college choirs. Membership in NATS, MTNA is desirable.
Responsibilities:  Direct the TC Choir: plan performances, select repertoire and coordinate with Music Department events.  Teach private (applied) Voice to music majors and non-majors.  Enter students in appropriate events such as All State or NATS.

Lifeguard Part Time

Description: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies
Qualifications: MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR Certified; Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training
  • Currently enrolled in a public school or private/home-schooled institution
  • or possess a high school diploma/GED certificate.
Responsibilities: DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Registration Clerk

Description: Texarkana College is seeking an Registration Clerk. This position reports to the Registrar and is a 12 month, full time benefits eligible position.
Qualifications: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • An Associate’s degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
  • One to two years’ work experience in a community college setting preferred.
    • Two years of responsible experience relating to admissions and records functions.
    • Specifically, the position requires one year of related, verifiable experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of tasks involved in all phases of the admissions and records process including registration and data processing. Knowledge of student enrollment services policies, procedures, forms and fees.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive complaints and inquiries at the admissions counter; interpret and explain admissions and records policies and procedures; answer a multi-line phone and provide general information about the college. Knowledge of supportive resources available to students for admission, enrollment and retention.
  • Receive and process admissions forms including initial registration, adds/drops, audits, credit, course repetitions, military tuition, fee deferments, state and VA rehabilitation, address changes and data changes; input information into computer.
  • Examine and determine the residency status of prospective students; evaluate documents in support of residency claims.
  • Receive transcript requests; check for accuracy; verify prior number of transcripts received; scan and route requests to Transcript Evaluator.
  • Analyzes transcripts to compare with required courses.
  • Represents the College professionally and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Recordkeeping and data entry.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Spanish Instructor

The Liberal and Performing Arts Division of Texarkana College is seeking a Spanish Instructor. Possible opportunity for teaching in a qualified secondary area.  This is a 9 month benefits eligible position.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 18 graduate level hours in Spanish. Ability to utilize multiple instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles of students.Preferred Qualifications: Credit based teaching experience.  Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.  Experience with or willingness to develop and teach courses via Internet or other distance-learning methodologies.  Knowledge of active and cooperative learning.  Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for teaching (15 hours) in the area of Spanish with a possibility for teaching in a qualified secondary area. Maintain a minimum of fifteen (15) equated office hours per week. Serve as translator and Spanish language contact for the college and serve on the TC Hispanic Outreach Committee and campus committees. Serve as Foreign Language Dual Credit Liaison. Responsible for program development, curriculum development, advising/mentoring students and participating in student retention activities. Participate in professional development opportunities. Perform other duties assigned by the Division Chair. Documentation and recordkeeping.

Associate Degree Nursing Instructor

Description: The Health Occupations Division of Texarkana College is seeking an Associate Degree Nursing Instructor. This is a 9 month assignment with requirement for overload, if needed.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Nursing. Must hold unencumbered RN License (Texas or Compact State). Active clinical experience in nursing in past two (2) years.
Responsibilities: Develop objectives and content for ADN curriculum. Teach and instruct students on campus and in clinical labs. Be responsible for client safety. Participate in team conferences associated with the courses to which assigned. Participate in college and departmental committees and activities. Assume assignments pertaining to successful operation and promotion of the ADN program, as a nationally accredited program. Develop functional interpersonal relationships with students and professional colleagues. Document and keep appropriate student records.
