Welding Technology Department Part-Time Lab Assistant

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma
  • Excellent communication and human relation skills and the ability to challenge and motivate.
  • Must be well organized, fair and unbiased.
  • Must be capable of maintaining an atmosphere that fosters learning.
  • Must possess a Texas driver’s license.
  • Prefer a certificate of diploma in Welding Technology with 3 years of work experience in the Welding Technology field
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Lab Assistant for the Evening Welding Technology Department
  • Develop, revise, maintain current inventory and keep track of all lab supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Set up lab activities and help deliver an exceptional hands-on lab experience: maintain order and discipline: help to test and evaluate student progress in the lab.
  • Serve as a technical advisor for Welding Technology students. Actively participates in recruitment and placement.
  • Keep current in technical and professional knowledge and actively participates in the team management concept of the college.
  • Assist instructors and department head in developing lab activities that help meet course objectives and improve overall student performance.

Other duties as assigned by Department Head.

Salary: Commensurate within the Texarkana College pay scale for Welding Technology Lab Assistants.

Fire Academy Part-Time Lead Instructor

Provides administrative leadership and supervisory skills and abilities in the development and management of the Texarkana College Fire Academy and related programs:

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associates degree preferred from an accredited college or university in Fire, Public Administration, Business, or a related field.

Ten (10) years’ experience as a full-time firefighter and five (5) years’ experience as a supervisor or administrator in a fire department (company officer or higher).

Certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as an Advanced Structural Firefighter. Master Structural Firefighter certification is preferred.

Instructor certification (any level) from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection required. Instructor III certification required within one year of employment.

Experience in compliance with Texas Commission on Fire Protection regulations.

Demonstrated experience and skills in meeting and working effectively with the public.

Experience working with a computerized system.

Will work closely with the coordinator.

 Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

Supervises fire academy operations and program development.

Coordinates activities, facilities, and equipment with Texarkana Fire Department staff and other partners as needed to ensure smooth operations and reduce or eliminate conflict in facility use.

Ensures compliance with Texas Fire Commission regulations.

Ensures compliance and accuracy in training and educational reporting requirements for state and federal agencies.

Explores and generates training needs/opportunities with public/private sectors.

Serves as liaison for local schools, business/industry and civic organizations.

Develops and maintains a system of student guidelines and entry criteria for programs and is responsible for program quality control and assessment.

Oversees screening and selection of qualified candidates for the fire academy and other programs.

Serves as instructor on occasion.

Coordinates and submits annual budget information and recommendations.

Salary:

Salary commensurate with credentials, experience and background.
