Student Recruiter

Description: Texarkana College is seeking a Student Recruiter. This is a full time benefits eligible Security Sensitive position, requiring successful completion of background screening and all pre and post hire documentation requirements. This is an entry level position. Under direct supervision, this position primarily assists with the recruitment of future students as well as marketing the programs and academic offerings of the College.  As a secondary function, this position conducts advising.
Qualifications: Minimum of Associate’s Degree required, higher degree preferred in area of Marketing/Communications or equivalent. Two years continuous, verifiable work experience requiring the knowledge, skills and abilities essential to this position.
Responsibilities: Market and promote Texarkana College. Attend community events representing the College. Assist in maintaining a recruiting database and follow up tracking system. Provide reports as requested. Conduct high school recruitment visits and participates in college fairs targeted at high school students. Conduct visits and participates in other recruitment or promotional activities at businesses, non-profits and other organizations to recruit adult/non-traditional students.  The Recruiter will network with appropriate internal and external parties to develop or enhance recruitment opportunities and activities. Conduct campus tours/meetings to prospective students or community groups. Maintain relationships with personnel representing high schools, social agencies and organizations, the business community and external constituencies. Remain current about new programs, program changes and other information critical to the successful recruitment of new students. Assist in pre-advisement and orientation as assigned. Provide advisement to prospective and current students who intend to transfer to universities or that are seeking a technical degree or certificate.  Provide professional, timely, and courteous assistance to internal and external customers, visitors and the general public. Conduct public presentations and speaking events in pursuit of recruitment and other marketing goals. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records. Assist in retention efforts of current students as assigned. Maintain professional appearance and demeanor, including correct grammar and application of the English language. Support the philosophy and mission of the College. Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to learn and apply social media tools in reaching prospective students. Public speaking skills. Follow up skills and the ability to see assignments through to completion. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to independently set up media equipment and visual aids at off-site locations. Customer service skills and abilities. Ability to organize, prioritizes, and schedule work assignments.  Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.  Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Music/Voice Adjunct

Description: The ideal candidate would have a solid foundation in teaching voice, would build the college choir through good vocal technique and appropriate repertoire and concerts, and would participate in campus performances as a soloist.
Qualifications:  Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Music with Vocal/Choral Emphasis. Experience as a performer (singer and director) in a variety of situations preferred.  Experience in directing youth and/or college choirs. Membership in NATS, MTNA is desirable.
Responsibilities:  Direct the TC Choir: plan performances, select repertoire and coordinate with Music Department events.  Teach private (applied) Voice to music majors and non-majors.  Enter students in appropriate events such as All State or NATS.

Lifeguard Part Time

Description: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies
Qualifications: MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR Certified; Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training
  • Currently enrolled in a public school or private/home-schooled institution
  • or possess a high school diploma/GED certificate.
Responsibilities: DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

Spanish Instructor

The Liberal and Performing Arts Division of Texarkana College is seeking a Spanish Instructor. Possible opportunity for teaching in a qualified secondary area.  This is a 9 month benefits eligible position.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 18 graduate level hours in Spanish. Ability to utilize multiple instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles of students.Preferred Qualifications: Credit based teaching experience.  Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.  Experience with or willingness to develop and teach courses via Internet or other distance-learning methodologies.  Knowledge of active and cooperative learning.  Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for teaching (15 hours) in the area of Spanish with a possibility for teaching in a qualified secondary area. Maintain a minimum of fifteen (15) equated office hours per week. Serve as translator and Spanish language contact for the college and serve on the TC Hispanic Outreach Committee and campus committees. Serve as Foreign Language Dual Credit Liaison. Responsible for program development, curriculum development, advising/mentoring students and participating in student retention activities. Participate in professional development opportunities. Perform other duties assigned by the Division Chair. Documentation and recordkeeping.

Associate Degree Nursing Instructor

Description: The Health Occupations Division of Texarkana College is seeking an Associate Degree Nursing Instructor. This is a 9 month assignment with requirement for overload, if needed.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Nursing. Must hold unencumbered RN License (Texas or Compact State). Active clinical experience in nursing in past two (2) years.
Responsibilities: Develop objectives and content for ADN curriculum. Teach and instruct students on campus and in clinical labs. Be responsible for client safety. Participate in team conferences associated with the courses to which assigned. Participate in college and departmental committees and activities. Assume assignments pertaining to successful operation and promotion of the ADN program, as a nationally accredited program. Develop functional interpersonal relationships with students and professional colleagues. Document and keep appropriate student records.
