The Texas A&M System’s Community College Teaching Scholars Program is designed to be a collaborative teacher recruitment and development partnership which:
  • increases the number of potential teachers transferring from community college programs into a Texas A&M University System teacher preparation program;
  • increases the number of community college transfers pursuing teacher certification in “high-need” teaching fields;
  • increases the number of community college transfers who pursue teaching in urban school districts;
  • increases the number of minority students in community colleges who pursue teacher certification;
  • aligns academic core preparation of potential teachers pursuing a community college associates degree program; provides a collaborative support structure on the community college campus to facilitate high quality, seamless teacher preparation programs.
