Welcome to my little corner of cyberspace. The purpose of this page is to allow me to share my love of the life sciences, to assist my students with information concerning current course work and to keep in touch with my former students and friends at Texarkana College.

If you have any suggestions or comments about my page please do not hesitate to drop me a note at mstorey@texarkanacollege.edu
I always love hearing from my students!

Science and Religion ?
Q. How can a Christian accept and in fact agree with evolutionary theory?!
A. Because the theory of biological evolution is the best natural (scientific) explanation of the unity & diversity of life.
Q. Doesn't evolution prove there is no God?
A. Science does not prove or disprove God, and in fact true science is silent on such topics because these very important questions are not subject to experimentation  and therefore are outside the realm of science.  Anyone that states anything to the contrary is merely relating their personal opinion or worldview  and not speaking on behalf of the scientific community.
Science in a Christian Perspective

The American Scientific Affiliation
is a fellowship of men and women in science and disciplines that relate to science who share a common fidelity to the Word of God and a commitment to integrity in the practice of science.

Click on the fish to read the excellent paper "Fish Wars" by a wildlife biologist that explores the contoversy between science and religion and explains this particular worldview that allows practicing scientists to embrace both the tennets of scientific theory and be persons of deep religious faith.

Quotes to Ponder...
“[ I have] gradually learnt to see that it is just as noble a conception of the Deity to believe that He created a few original forms capable of self-development into other and needful forms, as to believe that He required a fresh act of creation to supply the voids caused by the action of His laws.”
Charles Darwin - On the Origin of Species 2nd ed. Speaking of correspondence from Rev. Charles Kingsley  - Vicar Eversley Hampshire – Chaplin in Ordinary to Queen Victoria 1859.

"There is widespread suspicion of science, fostered by the feeling that science goes against the Bible," Houghton has said. "This is very unfortunate; it takes a very small view of God, and a very inadequate view of science."   Sir John Houghton
