SUMMER II 2007
The following will serve as a
list
of areas that will be covered on the first exam. Chapters 11 - 13.
Format: The exam will
consist of 50
multiple guess questions (70 points), and short answer questions.
(30 points).
Section I
(multiple guess):
Chapter 11
- basic types of tissues & their locations
- recognize basic tissues by their general apperance
- type of junctions between cells in various tissues
- distinguishing features of tissues
- body cavities - descriptions
- mucous vs. serous membranes
Chapter 12
- features of arteries
- features of veins
- edema - in extremities (feet, hands) what is responsible
for it
- characteristics of capillaries
- function of the semi lunar valves
- what happens to the body if a hole in the heart that is
normally present in the fetal heart does not close after birth? (flow
of blood)
- recognize the major vessels attached to the heart and the
interior chambers of the heart
- role of SA node
- interpret graphical information concerning blood pressure
and total cross sectional area of circulatory vessels
- heart sounds (what is responsible)
- heart murmors
- emergency room intervention electrically shocking the heart
- ECG (parts of the waveform, what they indicate)
Chapter 13
- lymph vessel composition
- pathogens
- inflammatory reaction
- source and role of histimine
- specific vs. non-specific defense mechanisms
- role of complement
- antibody mediated immunity
- features of T cells and B cells
- clonal selection theory
- features of classes of immunoglobulins: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG,
IgM
- blood typing
- basics of HIV the virus that causes AIDS
- passive vs. active immunity

associate vessels arteries & veins)
